If you own a jailbroken iOS device or a rooted android device you must have used at least one third party app store to download app for your smart phone. Most of the times the reason behind jailbreaking your apple device or rooting your android smart phone is to run hacked or forbidden apps and games only that can not be installed with the original operation system on your smart phone. iOS strictly does not allow you to install ant third party app store or apps downloaded from unknown sources on your device for the reasons explained below.
Third party app store are mostly free, they provide hacked and tweaked apps and games that everyone loves and they even provide paid apps for free. Most of the third party app stores for iOS devices get their license revoked after some months of operation. There are many reasons why a third party app store could revoke their license, the reasons are listed below.
- Most third party apps allow the users to download paid apps for free which is a clear violation of the copyright law which does not allow them to provide the paid apps.
- If the app store uses an expired enterprise distribution certificate to sign the jailbreak payload app then the license of the apps store gets revoked. The certificate only lasts one year, the app must be sideloaded before it can use the expired certificate.
- The third party app stores use fake enterprise certificates and developer certificates, which allows the apps that are downloaded from these app stores to be installed on non-jailbroken iOS devices which will also void the warranty of your iPhone or iPad.
- The apps that are available on these untrusted third party apps stores are mostly malwares which can steal your personal information. It will be easier once you have jailbroken your iOS device and left your smart phone venerable to these malwares.
